Our clients typically will send or drop off any communication received via the ATO. Moving forward this will change as the ATO has recently amended the process on their end.
If you have linked the ATO to your myGov account, most of your ATO mail will now come directly to your myGov Inbox, rather than through the post or to your accountant.
The types of ATO mail you may receive in your myGov Inbox include:
- notices, such as notices of assessment
- statements of account
- confirmation and reminder notices
- activity statements or instalment notices.
This change has been made due to new legal and privacy requirements, therefore, we are unable to revert back to the previous channels.
My gov will send you an SMS or email to advise when any correspondence is in your myGov inbox so please keep an eye out if you are expecting any notices. Please also ensure your best contact information is listed on your myGov account to ensure you do not miss anything important.
If you don’t have a myGov account or have not yet linked the ATO to your myGov; you, or your tax or BAS agent, will continue to receive your ATO mail via the post.
